Voice Over
Think
you recognize Alecia’s speaking voice? You’re not the only
one.
Responding to a flyer calling for three men and three women, Alecia
auditioned for a radio commercial. "The flyer was posted in the
music building at UT, so I thought they were looking for singers," Alecia
explains. "When I called the number and learned it was a voice over
audition, I thought, ‘why not?!’ I had nothing to lose. One
week later, the PR director called me and said I had the job. Little
did I know what the job was."
This was not just any voice over gig—Alecia was selected as the
first and only National Female Voice for dot-com-phenom Collegestudent.com.
For two years, every college-aged student in the nation heard about their "local,
online campus community" thanks to Alecia. "I was unbelievably
fortunate to work with Joel Block and Bill Harwell at The Production
Block in Austin. They are first-class professionals in world-class facilities."
For every voice over spot, Alecia prepares by creating a specific character
and then developing the voice that best suits that character. "I've
had to read roles as a babysitter and as a thermostat. Those characters
cannot sound the same. So I practice various deliveries, timbres, inflections
and personalities for each one."
Known for her energized and quirky,
college-cool delivery, as well as various languages and accents,
Alecia has worked with major corporations like Time Warner Cable
and Reebok, and her voice has been heard in commercials airing on
MTV and VH1. Most recently she recorded for a new Adobe advertising
campaign. |
