Alecia Aghast

Hi there, friends! Recently I had the opportunity to work on a fun and technically-challenging commercial. Look for me looking aghast in comedic ballot initiative spot, “Upside Down”, which began airing this week. It’s the featured video on my YouTube channel, too!

Win Some, Lose Some More

I received a phone call last week.

“Hey!  How are you?  Are you available to work on [insert name of major network TV show here]?”, the voice inquired.

My heart leapt.  ”Yes”, I responded happily.  ”I can be available!”

“Oh, that’s great.  We’ll need to you do stand-in and it’s perfect because you look just like her.  We’re only waiting on her height.”

“Oh…alright”, I answered as normally as possible, my heart sinking.  I knew exactly what was going on.

Flashback to the previous week…

I’m nervous.  I’ve slept as much as possible.  I’m memorized, have an outfit packed neatly in an unassuming bag, a headshot in hand and I’m prepared to ride a bus.  I’m on my way to audition for a guest-star role on [insert name of major network TV show here].  My mental checklist has been reviewed to the point of tatters and I’m certain I’ve got everything I need.

Today, the situation (not Mike Sorrentino) appeared in the form of an email in my inbox, reading:

Would you rather work on the film or the TV show?

Hmm. It is an unusual situation when the CD offers the … Read more »

Commercial Carnival!

Yesterday I attended a commercial audition and I had a great time.  It was a last-minute audition for which there was little time to prepare but I made the most of it!  I created a quirky sensibility for my character, bedecking her with traits I felt would most imbue her with memorability.  (Of course, I also catered to the specifics provided in the script.)  What I enjoyed about this process was the ease with which she evolved: her development occurred in a quickly-paced but organic manner.  How I wish all characters could be so evolutionarily effortless!

Upon arrival I was informed I was to be paired with actor “Aaron”.  However, he seemed to be late in arriving.  The actor with whom I was eventually matched turned out to be a wonderful scene partner: calm, professional, prepared, reactive and friendly.  I warned him that my actions in the audition room would be larger than those of our rehearsal and he seemed grateful to know.  We were the … Read more »
