New Year, New Blog!

Well, friends, it is 2010!  Happy New Year!  Some may feel it is the beginning of a new decade while others won’t.  (Isn’t the start of every year the beginning of a new decade? Or every day or every minute, for that matter?  I digress…)   Either way, I thought the start of this year would be a great time to refresh and consolidate things, bringing together in a more integral fashion my blog and web site.  Don’t worry.  The old blog will still be there, but all new posts henceforth will appear here.  The great part?  Typing the URL professionalauditionee.com into your browser address field will bring you straight to the blog!

Please know that both professional auditionee and aleciabatson.com are in beta.  So, things aren’t quite set yet, and a few things still need to be done.  However, I hope you’ll like the work in progress and will feel free … Read more »

This is an award-winning blog!

Yes, it’s true folks.  This is an award-winning blog. With many thanks to French horn-playing blogger Bruce Hembd, this blog is the happy recipient of the mysteriously fabulous Premio Dardos Award!  The Premio Dardos Award aims to acknowledge the values that every blogger shows in their efforts to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values every day. This hallmark was created with the intention of promoting fraternization between bloggers and as a way of showing affection and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web.  Personally, I like the fact that the award title can be abbreviated PDA.  (Public display of affection?  Anyone?)

The rules for acceptance and granting of the award are as follows:

1.  Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person that has granted the award and his or her blog link.

2.  Pass the award to at least 5 blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgment. Remember to contact each … Read more »

Chirp chirp!

Hi, professional auditionee readers:

See over there? In the sidebar? The new “Au courant” section? I’m now on Twitter! I’ll post a tweet whenever I feel the urge and that little box will update concurrently. You’ll know a bit more about what’s going on in my auditioning life as soon as I do. I’d be very pleased to have you follow me, too! So, sign up! Tell your friends! (I may even follow you.)

I’ve been Hubbed!

The World Wide Web is a crazy place, I tell ya’. Someone pointed out to me that I’ve been Hubbed. Me! I find this bizarre. It means that there really are other people out there reading my blog–people I don’t know and who have never met me. People like Adam Gaffin, founder of universalhub.com, and poster of the blog entry about my blog. See? Bizarre. True, his posting was made several days ago, but in the scheme of the space-time continuum it was quite timely for human activity, having been posted fewer than 24 hours after my initial posting. Do I expect my world to change overnight as a result? No, of course not. It hasn’t. Do I anticipate phenomenal auditions to fall into my lap forthwith? Nope. It would be nice, though.
