Exciting news, friends! I’ve just learned the experimental sci-fi feature film I worked on, Circuit, has begun making the film festival rounds, already acquiring some kudos along the way. In Circuit, I play the on-the-beat news reporter who helps to reveal some important information. (There is a snippet of my improvised reporting at the end of the film’s trailer.)
This project is the feature film debut for Boston-based writer and director Andrew Landauro. It was accepted to the Tenth Annual Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival (RIIHFF)–a subset of the Rhode Island International Film Festival–in October and was awarded Best Picture, beating out more than 250 entrants. Not a TwitPic, but still a photo! This is me along with actor-director Albert M. Chan and cinematographer/editor Aaron Howland at the Fate Scores screening at the 2009 Boston International Film Festival. (More photos available at my flickr page!)
This past weekend, short film Fate Scores screened at the 2009 Boston International Film Festival, adding tally mark four to the screening score for the project. The showing was a success and an opportunity to catch up with many of the cast and crew who worked on the project.
Fate scores was paired with another short film, Compact Only, and a documentary feature film, 40 Years of Silence: An Indonesian Tragedy, in session 37, with a brief question and answer session after each film. While the films seemed collectively awkward, independently each was well-produced and interesting to watch.
It was fun to see many familiar faces in the crowd and meet new individuals, too. Afterwards, a party to thank the cast and crew was hosted by actor-director Albert M. Chan and assistant director Richard Possemato. (Yes, there will be photos to follow.)
These past two weeks, Fate Scores has been piling up the film fest acceptance letters. (As a reminder, I was AD on the project and I also recorded the vocal track of the original score, which was composed by Christian Coleman.) Here is a listing of upcoming screenings of our little live action short. Hopefully you can make one of them!
