Time has been flying by, yet I feel like I’ve not been accomplishing much. I think it’s time for a review for self-encouragement purposes. What have I been up to? Let’s see…
In no particular order, I’ve recently:
The audition front is a bit slow these … Read more »
It’s Sunday, it’s sunny (currently, but rain forecast for later) and spring has clearly arrived. It’s time for me to remain despondent no more. I’ve donned my positive outlook hat and I’m ready to resume practicing, singing, rehearsing, reading and auditioning.
My new goal: become more enterprising. It has been suggested that I find some cute boy somewhere and make a provocative tape. Sorry, SteveR. That’s a no-go, I think. While it was a great turn for Pam and Tommy, and Paris and what’s-his-name, I don’t really think that’s the best vehicle for me. During the past several months, it has been suggested more than once by friends, colleagues and coaches that I “do” Masterpiece Theatre. Frankly, I’d love to. People seem to think I have a good look, useful skills and a natural delivery that would cater to a Masterpiece or Mystery! teleplay, and I happen to agree with them. I’ve already taken … Read more »
I’ve just taken a phone call from a good actor-friend of mine who is working on a film with major prospects: it has a great up-and-coming director; there are amazing opportunities for major bigwigs to see the completed work; an excellent cast is on hand, including my actor-friend (we’ll call him Bill). It seems an actress with a major part has pulled out, though, and Bill has recommended me for the part! How exciting! It was so thoughtful of Bill to think of me on such short notice.
However, a few things have to fall into place in order for this to happen:
• The project is quick-shooting this weekend and my weekend is already a bit crammed with previous engagements and some singing gigs.
• I would only have three scenes to shoot, but some major direction to learn.
• There may be some contract issues with which to contend. The director is making some calls.
I have to keep reminding … Read more »
Well, today is July 20, the purported final shooting date of the episode of Brotherhood for which I auditioned a few weeks ago. (I surmise that I have not been cast in the part.) As much as I would have *loved* to play that character, I also recognize that everything happens for a reason. Perhaps the shooting schedule is off and they haven’t called me yet. Perhaps there is another role they wish to cast me in. Perhaps there is a better role in a different production somewhere down the line with my name on it. What I do know is this: I felt confident with the audition I presented given the minimal preparation time I had; the CD seemed pleased with my audition; though we may not always understand why things happen, they do happen for reasons, and we do grow to understand why they’ve occurred.
I can’t wait to find out the purpose for this experience!
