Three Good Things

Three good things happened tonight while I was at rehearsal:

  1. I received a voicemail message from the casting director booking me for the Massachusetts Lottery commercial.  Yay!  A subsequent call arrived from wardrobe, providing me with instruction on what to bring to tomorrow’s fitting.
  2. The director assigned me “Ich folge dir gleichfalls” from J. S. Bach’s Johannes Passion, a lovely little ditty I’ll sing on March 15.  So, if you will be in the Boston area at that time, come and listen!
  3. I received an email about Fate Scores, indicating early good press.  See that photo there at the top of the article?  A good-looking photo, right?  Well, that’s my dear friend Albert prominently featured, but that photo wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for me.  I took it!  Yay me! (Say, 77 Square: Movies: Blog: what about some credit, eh?)

Now, all I’ve got to do is get rid of this nagging, wheezy cough I’ve picked up and I’ll be golden.

The long wait

Ten days ago I had a second audition for the role of a train commuter in a television commercial. The commercial is slated to shoot in about a week, but none of the actors have heard anything, yet. Or, at least I haven’t. We’re all still on first refusal. (Or at least I’m assuming all have elected to stay on first refusal.) Essentially, we’re waiting. I sent an email inquiry today to see if the casting director knew anything about where things stood with this particular spot. This is the response I received:

“Hey! WE are still waiting to hear!! WE will let you know [sic]“

Okay. So the casting director is waiting, too. And is possibly busy and in a hurry. It was great that I received a response, though. The casting director could have just ignored me.

I realize that patience is a virtue, but I must admit I’ve never been the most patient of girls. … Read more »

Thankful

This Thanksgiving I am grateful to be fortunate to have had several career-building opportunities this year, including:

I am also appreciative to have friends and family who are supportive of me as I pursue this crazy path.  Thank you!

Knowing is half the battle

Man, man, man!  Yesterday was one heck of a day.

I awoke at 5 AM, was dressed as an MIT student and out the door by 6:15 AM, backpack, hat and all.  Despite recent troubles with the MBTA, I was willing to give it a second chance notwithstanding the bizarre route map provided.  In fact, I was pleasantly surprised.  Not only did the designated bus arrive, but I arrived at my destination early.  I checked in and took a seat with the other “MIT students” and “MIT professors”.  I elected to wear one of my engaging, nerdy T-shirts:

It’s not unlike nerdy shirts I’ve seen at MIT previously.  (One of my faves.)  Howevever, my shirt was deemed “too bright” for the shot; I took it off to reveal the turtleneck beneath.  Moreover, while the description for wardrobe read:

“Beginning of Fall weather, similar to now.  NO SHORTS OR SHORT SLEEVES.  NO WINTERY LOOKING … Read more »
