This has been a very good week–the best I can recall in a while. Here’s the low-down:
Monday: I did yoga all day on the set of a very eclectic indie flick. I can’t wait for it to come out! It should be quite cute.
Tuesday: I was asked–last-minute–to work on a major feature film that was filming only three blocks from my apartment. The best commute to work ever!
Wednesday: An audition for a major TV series for a bit part. I did my best to prepare and study, but still left with that ambiguous, How did I do? feeling.
Thursday: Was asked to sing–wait for it–Wagner! Can you believe it?! My voice type never sings Wagner. Though this will be a reduced arrangement of the “Ride of the Valkyries“, it in no way diminishes the fact that it is Wagner and I’ll be singing it.
Friday: While finalizing details of a major audition occurring today, … Read more »
More than a year ago, I hosted a bloggy give-away associated with this photo:
Remember the tackiness? I do. Well, last evening a friend of mine came up to me and said straight away, “Oh! I saw you in
The Box!”
“You did?!”, I replied incredulously. ”I didn’t think my scenes would make it in there.” In fact they did, it seems. I am somewhere to be seen in The Box with Cameron Diaz and James Marsden. Apparently some aspect of my work as a NASA technician made it into the movie and, yes, this photo documents the circa-1975 outfit in which I was bedecked for the role. (It’s slightly Mary Tyler Moore, don’t you think?)
Now I just need to see the movie…
A few weeks ago I campaigned hard for a principal role audition in the upcoming Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz flick currently called the “Untitled Wichita Project“, and I actually got it. In fact, I got to audition for two roles, both of which were airline ticket agent types. It is currently filming in Worcester, MA, and I feel confident in stating I have not been cast as an airline ticket agent in any capacity, despite my adorableness. (I haven’t heard from anyone, you see.)
The two auditions consisted of varied reads:
Role One Read one line three times. Smile. Look cute. Be a prop.
Role Two Read four pages. Be interesting. Be curious. Be obvious-and-yet-not-so.
I found Role One difficult. There was not enough information for my taste. I like detail. I like expository data. I wallow in TMI. But since when has my preference governed an audition experience? I’ve been a prop before: I once played … Read more »
So, it seems “the Facebook movie” based upon Ben Mezrich’s book Accidental Billionaires is picking up pre-production steam and key decision-making is underway. You may recall I recently reached out to Mr. Mezrich, asking for his consideration for a part in any potential Accidental Billionaires film product. He was kind enough to respond. Even if not with the desired “Sure. I’ll be glad to see what I can do” comment, I was flattered Mr. Mezrich took the time to tweet.
Despite this very minor setback, I’m still holding out hope that someone from Columbia pictures (now a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment) will read my blog, check out my website or visit my Facebook page and realize that I would be an excellent choice to call in for an audition and cast in a part. (C’mon guys! I would be great!)
